Freda Lee Handy passed away at Hickory Creek of Connersville on Wednesday evening June 17, 2026.

She was born in Dublin, Indiana at her home on December 17, 1944, the daughter of the late Raymond and Sally (Jones) Lakes. Freda was a Christian and her interests were music and movies. She worked as a CNA in Home Health Care for 10 years and

retired from Silgan (Richmond) after 10 years of service.

She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Tonia (Daniel) Roark;

grandsons, Alex Roark, Brandan Roark; granddaughter, Ashlyn (Austin) Kohler,

granddaughter, Tasha Handy, grandson, Johnny Handy of Tennessee;

great grandchildren, Isaac Handy, Baylee Warren, Johnny Handy/Swain of Tennessee,

great granddaughters, Stella Kohler and Luna Kohler of Ohio.

Freda is preceded in death by her grandparents, (Jones) Lakes and parents, Raymond and Sally (Jones) Lakes; sister, Margaret Vance, brother, Hubert Lakes;

son, John L. Handy Jr..

The family would like to express a special THANKS to the nurses from Hospice Care in Connersville and to Hickory Creek Nurses and staff for all the care Freda Handy received!

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.
