PERSHING- Freda Mae Flannery, 91, passed away Thursday morning July 21, 2016 at her home in Pershing while surrounded by her loving family. A daughter of the late Albert and Bertha (Hendrickson) Cowin, Freda was born in Shelbyville, Indiana on March 5, 1925. Formerly of Connersville, she has lived in the Cambridge City-Western Wayne community since the early 1950's and has made her home in Pershing for the past 17 years. Freda was a homemaker. She raised 10 children, was affectionately known as "Granny" by her family and loved spending time with her grandkids. Freda enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, embroidery, reading, bird watching, working jigsaw and word search puzzles. Survivors include 9 children, Brenda (Jerry) Dunaway and Marilyn Flannery of Pershing, Marcella (Darrell Skaggs) Flannery of Centerville, Mary Lloyd of New Orleans, Louisiana, Latina (Duane) Hibbard of Hagerstown, Carl (Wilma) Flannery Sr. of Pershing, Brad and Billy (Sharon) Flannery of Straughn, Carl (Ginger) Flannery Jr. of Cambridge City; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Roberta Rummell of Connersville, Martha Wilson of Florida and Bill Cowin of Pennville; nieces and nephews. Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Foster "Minnie Pearl" Flannery on December 4, 2001. They were married in Connersville on March 24, 1951; 1 son, David A. Flannery on October 8, 2009; 1 sister, Carol Sue McKinley and1 brother, Bob Cowin. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Tuesday July 26, 2016 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Freda's nephew, Rev. Gary Cowin will officiate. Burial will follow at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.
