SPICELAND- Arthela Ann "Fedie" Pierce, 84, of rural Spiceland, went home to be with the Lord and her husband Billy, with her children by her side, on Friday January 17, 2014. A daughter of the late Ernest Glenn and Elizabeth (Sorrell) McConnell, Fedie was born in Lewisville, Indiana on September 24, 1929. She has lived most of her life in the Lewisville area and attended school there. A homemaker, Fedie was a devoted wife and mother, not only to her children but also to several nieces, nephews and neighboring children. She was a life member of the Church of Christ on South State Road 103- New Castle. Survivors include, 3 sons- Billy "Bucky" (Delilah) Pierce of New Castle, Johnny Ray (Terry) Pierce of Lewisville, George W. Pierce II of New Castle; 1 daughter, Brenda Lee (Donald) Ewing of Straughn; 2 brothers, Ernie McConnell, Richard (Amanda) McConnell; 1 sister- Loretta Lamb; 14 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson. Fedie was preceded in death by her husband Billy L. Pierce on September 14, 2010. They were married in New Castle on August 17, 1946; 1 daughter, Phyllis Ann Jones on October 22, 2000; infant son, Ernest Glenn Pierce; 1 brother, Rudy McConnell; 2 sisters- Evelyn and Cleora. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday January 22, 2014 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel, 115 West U.S. Hwy. 40- Lewisville, IN 47352. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday January 21 at the funeral home.
