Obituary

Cambridge City- Eula Mavis Armstrong, 85, passed away Wednesday morning May 27, 2009 at Hickory Creek of New Castle. A daughter of the late Ernest and Effie Wissler Pate, Eula was born south of Centerville, Indiana on August 3, 1923 and graduatd from the Centerville High School with the class of 1941. A homemaker, Eula had worked for J.M. Hutton Casket Company in Richmond. She was a member of the Centerville Christian Church and the TOPS Club. Eula enjoyed ceramics and fishing. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Bennie F. Armstrong whom she wed on September 26, 1953. 5 sons- Ted (Ruth) Cates of Odessa, Missouri, Ned (Jean) Cates of Richmond, Gary (Elizabeth) Armstrong of Williamsburg, Ken (Lori) Armstrong of Lakeland, Florida and Mark (Linda) Armstrong of Richmond; 1 daughter- Cris Armstrong of Cambridge City; 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; special caregiver- Linda Siggers of Cambridge City; sister inlaw- Margaret Pate of Centerville. Eula was preceded in death by 5 brothers- Carrol, Leo, Lowell, Lloyd and Merideth Pate; 1 sister- Lorna Pate. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. till the time of services at 2 p.m. on Monday June 1, 2009 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Steve Abernathy will officiate. Burial will follow at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.
