Obituary

CARTHAGE - Eugene Charles Rummel, 88, of Carthage, Indiana passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his residence. One of ten children of Clarence Monroe and Ethel Gertrude (Paul) Rummel, Charles was born on March 5, 1926 in Wayne County north of Cambridge City, Indiana. He attended New Lisbon schools and served his country in the United States Army during WWII from 1944 to 1946. Charles retired from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1991 after 25 years of service. He also worked at the Ford Garage in New Castle and Knightstown. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially fox hunting. Charles was a member of the American Legion Post 152 in Knightstown. Survivors include his children, Vicki Toon, Tim, Randy, and Cathy Louise Rummel, Cammy Theobold; daughter-in-law, Kathy Rummel; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Herman Dwight Rummel; sisters, Jeanette Winchester, Wilma Query, Jean Culberson. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charlotta Mae "Lottie" (Hawk) Rummel on May 11, 2010; son, Jeff Rummel on October 8, 2010; great grandson, Justin Robert Theobold; siblings, Carl Rummel, Thelma Thornburg, Mable Nelson, Ralph Robert Rummel, Helen Tutterow. Family and friends may gather from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lewisville Cemetery.
