SPICELAND- Esther M. Carmichael, 84, passed away on Wednesday October 19, 2011 at the Alternative Care Facility in Henry County, Indiana, where she has lived since February of this year. A daughter of the late Maurice C. and M. Myrtle (Reece) Magee, Esther was born in Spiceland Township, Henry County, Indiana on October 2, 1927. She was raised in Hancock County and attended Kennard High School. Esther has made her home in Spiceland since 1948. A homemaker, she was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, member of the Spiceland Eastern Star and attended the Spiceland Friends Church. Survivors include 2 children, Bruce O. (Chris) Carmichael of Knightstown and Barbara R. (Leonard) Caudill of Florence, S. Carolina; 5 grandchildren, Rena (Dean) Spencer, Rachel (Steve) Procik and Ryan (Jennifer) Caudill all of S. Carolina, Casey (Stephanie) Carmichael and Cara (Ryan) Williams both of Spiceland; 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Charles Magee of Spiceland and Howard Magee of Illinois, nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Charles N. Carmicheal on June 7, 1999. They were married in Shirley, Indiana on October 16, 1943. 1 brother, Eldon Magee; 1 sister, Edna Kemerly; 1 great granddaughter, Allison Procik. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday October 22, 2011 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Sid Martin will officiate. Burial with the committal service conducted by her grandson Rev.Ryan Caudill will follow at the Circle Grove Cemetery in Spiceland. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. (today) Friday October 21 at the funeral home.
