LEWISVILLE- Robert E. "Ernie" Strange, 68, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning May 9, 2017. A son of the late Robert M. and Josephine (Girdley) Strange, Ernie was born in New Castle, Indiana on March 10, 1949. Ernie was raised in the Lewisville community by his grandparents, Eva and Winfield Strange. He was a graduate of Lewisville High School with the class of 1968. Ernie had worked at Hartley Truck Parts in Spiceland and retired after 26 years of service from the Indiana Soldier's and Sailor's Home in Knightstown where he was the steam plant operator in the boiler room. A hard worker and provider for his family, Ernie also was the owner/operator of Strange Lawn Service and for the last two years he has driven a school bus for the South Henry School Corporation. Ernie was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed NASCAR racing and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife, Lois J. (Jefferis) Strange, whom he married in Lewisville on May 21, 1976. 3 children, Bobbi Strange of New Castle, Dusty (DeLisa) Strange of Straughn and Cory (Sandy) Strange of Modoc; 7 grandchildren, Jera Nicholas, Brittany Strange, Stevie Nicholas, Brett, Jillian, Elijah and Everlee Strange; 1 great grandchild, McKenna Osborne; 1 sister, Vickie Strange of Muncie; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ernie was preceded in death by 1 brother, Michael Strange.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday May 13, 2017 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home- Lewisville Chapel. Rev. Mark Thompson will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Friday May 12th at the funeral home.
