MILTON, INDIANA- Elzona Abner, 84, passed away on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Connersville, Indiana. A daughter of the late William J. and Maude Tackett Miller, Elzona was born in Jackson County, Kentucky on September 16, 1925. A homemaker she and her husband had lived on a farm on Pottershop Road before moving to Milton, in 1980. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn (Elmer) Willis of Dublin; 3 grandchildren, whom she raised, Becky (Jerry) Oakley of Milton, James (Barbara) Davis of Jacksonburg and April Russell of Rushville; 6 great grandchildren, Dylan Davis, Taylor, Mikayelah, Mackenzie and Hannah Oakley and Christian Moffitt; 1 sister, Mary L. Luzan of Florida; 2 brothers, Albin Adkins of Florida and Donald Adkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Abner on October 4, 1992. They were married on June 22, 1942 in Kirby Knob, Kentucky. 2 sisters, Minnie and Flossie; 2 brothers, John and Glendon. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday January 2, 2010 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will follow at the Westside Cemetery in Milton. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on Friday (today) January 1, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made at the funeral home to benefit the family.
