NEW CASTLE - Elvin Elton Worth, 96, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at The Waters of New Castle. He was born in Henry County on March 28, 1916 to Everett and Bertha Worth. Elvin graduated from Straughn High School with the class of 1935 and went on to serve in the United States Navy during World War II before his discharge in 1946. He married Lucille Ruth Clemons on January 9, 1937 in Greenfield, Indiana. Elvin was employed at Perfect Circle in Hagerstown, AVCO in Richmond, Chrysler in New Castle, and retired from Belden Wire in 1979 after 19 years of service. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 1282 in New Castle, Breakfast Optimist in New Castle, and held the title of oldest living Straughn High School alumni. In recent years Elvin attended Christ United Methodist Church in New Castle and was a longtime member of Dublin Gospel Mission. Survivors include three daughters, Drena Ruth (Robert) Douglass of Richmond, Darlene Sue (Harold) Frame of Cambridge City, Arlene Kay (Stanley) Price of Elwood; nine grandchildren, Robert Worth Douglass, Drena Cathleen Shirmer, Michael (Karen) Frame, Melissa (Eric) Vance, Molly Frame, Kirk (Mary Anne) Price, Seth (Sarah) Price, Whitney (Ariadne) Price, Jared (Briana) Price; fifteen great-grandchildren. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife on November 18, 1995; two sisters, Mildred Brunson, Vera P. Baker; two brothers, William Rolland Worth, Everett Knight Worth. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at the Dublin Gospel Mission, Dublin. Rev. Yuland Baker will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
