Hagerstown- E. Willard Neal, 85, passed away on Friday evening July 3, 2009 at the Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Willard was born in Albany, Kentucky on March 28, 1924. He graduated from the New Lisbon High School in New Lisbon, Indiana and was honorably discharged from the United States Army after service during World War II. Willard was a member of they New Lisbon Christian Church and retired from Ford Motor Company in Connersville after 32 years of service where he worked in quality control. He also was a dairy farmer for 23 years and moved from Fayette County to Hagerstown in 1978. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping with his late wife Eileen and family. Survivors include his 3 children- Carol Sue (Mick) Melvin of Fishers, David (Tammy) Neal of Hagerstown and Phillip (Marilyn) Neal of Economy; 4 granddaughters- Michelle Gano, Kimberly Melvin, Phyllis Darnell and Tiffany Neal; 1 grandson- Patrick Neal; 3 great grandchildren- Michael and Andrew Gano and Cameron Darnell; 1 sister- Margaret Jane Barnes of New Castle; nieces and nephews. Willard was preceded in death by his father- Ernest John Neal on February 13, 2003; mother- Clora Owens Neal on June 26, 1971; wife of nearly 62 years- the former Eileen E. Matney. They were married in Henry County, Indiana on November 24, 1944. She passed away on November 16, 2006; 1 sister- Edna Petty. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. till the time of services at 6 p.m. on Thursday July 9, 2009 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Mark Lomison will officiate. Burial and committal service with Military Honors will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday July 10 at the Brick Cemetery south of Hagerstown.
