PERSHING- Edith Thompson, 78, passed away Friday morning May 29, 2009 at the home of her son in Pershing. A daughter of the late Otho and Effie Conklin Duncan, Edith was born in Connersville, Indiana on August 9, 1930 and moved to the Pershing community 30 years ago. She enjoyed baking and worked as a cook in restaurants in the Connersville area. She also did home care for the elderly. Edith's hobbies include fishing, yard sales, reading and spending time with her dog Cookie. She attended the Dublin Gospel Mission Church. Survivors include 3 children- Thomas "Ed" Sims of Pershing, Kathy (James R.) Isaacs of Connersville and Bonnie Downam of Indianapolis; grandchildren- Amy Barksdale Tompkins, Ronnie Barksdale, Crystal Lakes, Tonya Barksdale Isaacs, Max (Darlene) Fields and Lillian Meisberger; great grandchildren- Jay (Barksdale) WiWi, Damian & Kristina Barksdale, Selena and Peyton Isaacs, Randi (Rae Rae) Brogan, Justin and Kambre Apperson, Bradley and Alec Meisberger; brother- Charlie (Kathy) Duncan of Connersville; close friend- Marylou Moore of Pershing. Edith was preceded in death by her husband James Franklin Thompson on September 8, 2002. They were married in Connersville on July 4, 1976; sisters- Marjorie Duncan McKee, Valeta Blanche Duncan Ariens, Emma Duncan Corey, Caroline Cummings and Bioyla Duncan Joyner; brothers- Nathan Otho, Wilbur and Stanley Duncan. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services at 1 p.m. on Tuesday June 2, 2009 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Paul Isch will officiate. Burial will follow at the Zion's Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing.
