Obituary

DUBLIN, IN- Earl John Prignitz, a Friends Minister, 94, of Friends Fellowship in Richmond, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday afternoon May 4, 2010. Earl was born in Buffalo, Iowa on August 27, 1915. He was the son of the late Charles Francis and Martha Alma Anna (Heinze) Prignitz. Survivors include 3 daughters- Irene (Monte) Goodwin of Knightstown, Joan Harvey of Fishers and Ruth Silvers of Xenia, OH; 7 grandchildren- Bob (Robyn), Randy and Mike Goodwin , Christie (Richard) Floyd, Amy (Jeff) Biddle, Rick (Kim) Silvers, Lori (Eric) Croley; 13 grandchildren; 1 step daughter- Bobbi Miller; 4 step grand and 4 step great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by- 1st wife- Ethel Alice (Thompson) Prignitz in 1996; 2nd wife- Rosalie Miller in 2010; sister- Doris Newby; stepdaughter- Marsha Pino Earl Prignitz attained his A.B. from Earlham College in 1953 and did postgraduate work at the Earlham School of Religion, 1964-1968. He was recorded in the Ministry by Iowa Yearly Meeting of Friends in 1945. He served pastorates in New Sharon, IA 1944-48, Noblesville, IN 1948-50, Williamsburg, IN 1950-53, Spiceland, IN 1953-60, Xenia, OH 1960-64 and Dublin, IN 1994-96. He served as Executive Secretary of the Board on Christian Education of the Friends United Meeting, Quaker Hill Bookstore Manager and Editor of the Friends United Press, Penn Teacher and Penn Student. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. on Friday May 7, 2010 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, 1993 Cumberland St./ Dublin, IN 47335. Burial will follow at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday May 16, 2010 in the Community Room at Friends Fellowship- 2030 Chester Blvd./ Richmond, IN 47374-1215 Memorial Contributions can be made to Dublin Friends- Dublin, IN 47335 or Friends Minister Fund through Friends Fellowship.
