LEWISVILLE- Duane Cole, 69, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday August 23, 2014 at the Henry County Hospital in New Castle, Indiana. A son of the late Melvin R. and Goldie M. (Williams) Cole, Duane was born in Rush County, Indiana on September 9, 1944. Duane graduated from Lewisville High School with the class of 1962 where he enjoyed playing basketball. In 1963 he graduate from the Indiana Barbers College and was owner/operator of Cole's Barber Shop in Greenfield for several years. Duane was a farmer and has lived on the farm south of Lewisville since 1976. He will always be remembered for raising delicious sweetcorn and the craftmanship of his wood and iron working. Duane attended the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Lewiville Masonic Lodge #72 F & AM and the Lewisville Order of the Eastern Star #463. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, the former Carol Sue Henry, whom he married on August 9, 1963 at the Salem United Methodist Church. 3 children, Lisa (Ken) Gregory of Muncie, Jill Cole of Fischers and Roger (Meryl) Cole of Portland, OR; 4 grandchildren, Hannah and Haley Gregory , Violet and Birch Cole; 2 sisters, Zada Jane Hall of Cincinnati and Mary Elizabeth Riggs of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews. Duane was preceded in death by 4 infant brothers; 1 infant sister; 9 brothers, Melvin Jr., Richard, John, Leslie Eugene, Donald, Howard, Ralph, Gerald Dean and Floyd Cole; 2 sisters, Roberta Sanders and Martha Elmira Craig. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday August 27, 2014 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Reverends Peter Zinn and Arthur Whitaker will officiate. Burial will follow at the Zion Cemetery in Raleigh. Visitation will be from 4 p.m until the start of Masonic Services at 8 p.m. on Tuesday August 26th. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church- 7495 E. 1200 N./ Lewisville, IN 47352
