CENTERVILLE, Ind. - Douglas L. Krull, age 59, received his wings on January 20, 2017. Doug was born April 17, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio to Paul "Dusty" & June (Greer) Krull. Doug as an avid Ohio State fan and a Cleveland Browns fan through the good…well, all the years. He was born and raised in West Carrollton, Ohio. In his thirties he moved to Richmond, Indiana where he met and married Patti. Early in his adulthood, he served in the United States Navy. As he got older, he worked as a welder and laborer at local factories such as Hoffco and Carpenter, spent several years working security and worked maintenance at Ivy Tech Community College. In recent years, Doug spent his time watching Ohio State football, watching Jimmie Johnson win Nascar Championships, tinkering in his garage, fishing and hanging out at the ballpark watching his grandsons play ball. Doug never met stranger. Even with a rough exterior, he had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. He was very proud of his family and made sure to tell them, along with anyone who would listen. Doug is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patti Krull; one brother, Thomas Krull; one son, Ron (Clara) Bales; Two daughters, Joy Bales and Beth (Clint) Newton; nine grandchildren, Megan Stamps, Amber (Zach) Shriver, Brittany Stamps, Brittney Jenkins, Skylar Bales, Gavin Newton, Allie Bales, Gunnar Newton and Campbell Newton; three great-grandchildren, Brody Stamps, Greyson Shriver and Peyton Moore; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many more friends. Doug is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Terry and Jon Krull; and two grandsons, Dougie Bales and Cooper Newton. Visitation will be Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, 1993 Cumberland Street, Dublin, Indiana. Funeral Services will follow with Pastor Robert Meckley officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cooper M. Newton Fund C/O The Wayne County Foundation, 33 South 7th Street, Richmond, IN 47374 or the Cambridge City Youth League, P.O. Box 122, Cambridge City, IN 47327.
