Straughn - Dorothy Lillian Meyerholtz, 90, of Straughn passed away Friday afternoon April 13, 2018 at Henry Community Health in New Castle. She was born November 28, 1927 in Straughn, Indiana, a daughter of the late Fred and Hazel (Butler) Palin. Dorothy graduated from Straughn High School and from Gradworl School for Lab and X-ray Technicians. She worked at Henry County Hospital. Dorothy married her only love, Kenneth Meyerholtz, on October 12, 1946, at her home in Straughn. She was an active member of the Straughn Community Chapel, where she served as song leader, treasurer, and president of the women's fellowship for many years. Dorothy and her husband were the youth directors of the old Methodist Church. She was the Ideal Lady for the Sunshine Girls of Straughn High School. Dorothy was Dudley Township Trustee for eight years. While living at Raintree Square in New Castle, she was the treasurer of the Residents Council. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Donna (Jim) Ellis of Pendleton; sons, Stephen (Rhea) Meyerholtz of Terre Haute and James (Ruth Ann) Meyerholtz of New Castle; grandchildren, Shawn Ellis and Angela (Mark) Seitz; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Jakolb Ellis, and Ryan Seitz; a very good friend, Lisa Mathis; brother-in-law, Glen (Nell) Meyerholtz of O'Fallon, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Kenneth Meyerholtz, in 2007; brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Don, Carroll and Keith Palin; sister, Maxine (Orie) Riley; sister-in-laws; nieces; and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 1 p.m. on Wednesday April 18th, 2018 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Reverend Dave Branham will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Straughn Community Chapel- P.O. Box 162/ Straughn, IN 47387.
