CAMBRIDGE CITY- Donn E. Darter of Cambridge City passed away peacefully on February 4,2014 at his residence after losing a long battle with cancer. Donn was born August 20, 1935 in Dunkerton Iowa. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army. Donn was a long time nurseryman and co-owner of Hillside Nurseries of Cambridge City. He enjoyed helping with the Wayne County 4-H Horse and Pony Club. He was an avid trail rider and was a member of the Jackson County Spurs and Wheels Saddle Club. Donn was preceded in death by his mother Darlene Darter and father Forrest "Boots" Darter. Donn is survived by Sue (Todd)Darter, wife of 55 years; brothers, Michael Darter, and Pete Darter; children, Jeff Darter (Andrea), Teresa Schrader (Brad); grandchildren, Susan Moistner, Brandon Darter (Heather), and Donn Schrader; great grandchildren, Haylee Darter, Landon Darter, and Noah Early. Honoring Donn's wishes, there will be no public services. The Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
