Connersville: Donald C. Porter, 75 of Connersville passed away Thursday August 4, 2011 in New Castle, IN. A son of the late Lawrence Porter and Elva (Chance) Cox, Donald was born in Connersville, IN on September 4, 1935. Donald retired from the Fayette County School Corporation in the early nineties and was the owner operator of Porters Plumbing & Heating. Donald served his country in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman and was stationed in Germany. He loved fishing , dancing, working in his yard and garden. Survivors include 4 children, Brenda (Terry) Craig of Milton, Keith (Kathy) Porter of Ft. Wayne, Melinda Porter (Lea) of New York, and Susan (Nelson) Biggs of Wildwood New Jersey; 5 step- children, Pam (Marion) Buchanan of Knightstown, Judy (Stanley) Back of Shirley, Linda Thompkins, Tina Goins both from Connersville and Beth Loyd of Liberty; step-mother, Helen Porter of Milan; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several step- grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Carolyn Ailes of Connersville, Pam O'Sullivan of Greensburg and Johanna Weber of Sunman IN; 4 brothers, Leo Porter of Illionis, Larry Porter of Indianapolis, Marty Porter of Milan and Todd Porter of Fortville; several nieces and nephews. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, James Russell Cox; wife, Jean (Fuchs) Porter; wife, Betty Jean (Hedrick)Porter; brother Jerry Cox; sister-in-law, Sandy Cox; brother-in-law Randy Ailes. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday August 10, 2011 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will follow at the Dale Cemetery in Connersville.With Military Honors by the Connersville American Leigon Post # 1. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m on Tuesday August 9, 2011 at the funeral home.
