CONNERSVILLE - Donald "Sam" E. Gibbs, 82, formerly of Connersville passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Ambassador Healthcare in Centerville, Indiana. He was born on November 5, 1932 in Dublin, Indiana to Dewey Irvin and Irene Lucy (Stewart) Gibbs. Sam worked for Conrail and the Pennsylvania Railroad for over 40 years. In his leisure, he enjoyed walking, gardening, woodworking, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Fayette County Senior Center. Survivors include his children, Daniel Gibbs of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, Jennifer (Thomas) Barrett of Connersville, Kimberly (Jeff) Barrett of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, Victoria Stevens of Crittenden, Kentucky, Allen Gibbs of Connersville, Donald Jr. (Tina) Gibbs, of Winchester, Indiana; grandchildren, Tommy, Mike, Jeffrey, Jonathan, Dorothy, Samantha, Michael, Matthew, Dylan, Emily, Cory, Brandy, Terry, Ben, several great-grandchildren; siblings, Dewey (Mae) Gibbs, Jr. of Centerville, Indiana, Alice "Sis" Price of California, John William Gibbs of Connersville, Gail Edward Gibbs of Connersville, James Dale (Judy) Gibbs of Connersville; special friend and travel companion, Juanita Swim. Sam was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Lou Childs in 2013; brother, David Lee Gibbs in 1968. Family and friends may gather from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Pershing.
