Don Herbert Muckridge, 83, of Cambridge City, IN, passed away on February 17, 2024, at The Springs in Richmond, IN. Don was born in Richmond, Indiana, on September 15, 1940 to Herbert Muckridge and Mary Muckridge (Butler). Don lived in Cambridge City, IN. Don met and married Irene Muckridge (Martinez) in Yuma, Arizona, where he was stationed as a US Marine. They later moved to Cambridge City and raised their family there.
Don attended Lincoln High School. Don was a United States Marine, having served time in Japan. Later, he was a police officer for Cambridge City before becoming a Yard Inspector for Conrail/Penn Central. Later, Don worked for Natco and then for ColorBox before his retirement. Don was an active member of the Marine Corps League in Richmond, Indiana. He volunteered as a mentor at Lincoln High School and a guide at the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Don supported other charities such as the March of Dimes and Muscular Dystrophy. Don was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Don leaves behind his sons, Patrick Muckridge of Richmond, IN, and Brent Muckridge (Stephen Kowal), Miami, FL. Five grandchildren, Samantha Muckridge, William Muckridge, Zachary Kowal, Elizabeth Kowal, and Olivia Kowal; four great-grandchildren, Kevin Muckridge, Quinton Doerflein, Kinslee Nash, and Maribella Nash; sisters Nancy (Muckridge) Kirlin and Carol (Muckridge) Cotton; and nieces and nephews.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Muckridge and Mary (Butler) Muckridge, and his son, Michael Muckridge.
The calling for Don Muckridge will be at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin, on Thursday, February 22nd, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church on Friday, February 23rd at 11 a.m.. Fr. John Hall will be the celebrant.
In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Don's honor to Breast Cancer Awareness, Multiple Sclerosis, or Muscular Dystrophy.
