Straughn: Dillie E. Dowell, 92 formerly of Straughn, passed away on Monday July 11, 2011 at the Waters of New Castle. The daughter of the Late George Washington and Bessie (Carter) Perdue. Dillie was born on December 7, 1918 in Gap Creek, Kentucky. Dillie lived in the rural Straughn community, where she helped her husband Roy on the farm. She worked for Reynold's Grocery Store in Straughn for 17 years. Dillie was a member of the Salem United Methodist Churc h, Order of the Eastern Star #116 of New Castle and recently had been accepted into The Daughters of the Union Veterens of the Civil War. Survivors include 3 sons, Danny Frost of Spiceland, Larry Frost (Nancy) of New Castle and Michael "Mickey" Frost of Nashville, IN; 9 grandchildren, 3 step - grandchildren, 18 great - grandchildren and 3 great - great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband & father of her 3 boys Killus Frost , 2nd husband Roy Dowell (Dec. 5, 1994); 3 brothers, Herbie, Dyer and Rayma Perdue; sister Pollie Lee; 18 half brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday July 14, 2011 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville. Burial will follow in the South Mound Cemetery - West Lawn Addition in New Castle. Jeff Blansett will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday July 13, 2011 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville. An Eastern Star service will follow the visitation at 7:30 p.m.
