CAMBRIDGE CITY - Dickie Dwayne Skaggs, 69, of Cambridge City passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at IU Health - University Hospital, Indianapolis from complications due to pneumonia. A son of the late Bennett and Mabel (Bickett) Skaggs, Dickie was born on July 7, 1946 in Richmond, Indiana. A lifelong Cambridge City resident, Dickie was stationed in Germany while serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On July 5, 1971 Dickie married the former Vicki Pence at the Cambridge City Church of the Nazarene. He worked as a millwright at Dana/Perfect Circle in Hagerstown before his retirement. A gifted craftsman, Dickie was well known for always lending a hand to anyone needing help with construction projects. In his leisure, he enjoyed fishing, coaching softball, playing BINGO and poker and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Dickie was proud to be an 11-year cancer survivor, overcoming the challenge and beating the odds with the help of a stem cell transplant. Survivors include his wife, Vicki; daughters, Lynnette (Eric) Larmore of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Larissa Skaggs of Cambridge City, Lindsay (Ethan) Carr of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Olivia Larmore, Karleigh Hall, Nataleigh Moore and Madalynn Carr; brothers, Don (Marcia) Skaggs of Fort Meyers, Florida, Darrell (Marcella) Skaggs of Centerville; sisters, Anita (Lee) Oliver of Florida, Vanda (Randy) Wilson of Martinsville; brother and sister in-law, Brent and Darlene Fortman and their children, DeAnn and Brandon; many nieces and nephews; special canine companions, Peanut and Charlie. Family and friends may visit from 4 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Jim Tilton will officiate. Military honors provided by the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 will follow the service. Memorial contributions can be made to The Good House, 527 N.
