Denver
Hawk
Jan 14, 1945 — Jul 13, 2026
Denver Lowell Hawk, 81, of Cambridge City, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday evening July 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Denver was born on January 14, 1945, in New Castle, Indiana, to the late Howard T. Hawk and Marian Beard Hawk.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army as an E-5 and was stationed in Germany during his four years of military service. Following his honorable discharge, Denver dedicated more than 30 years of service as a factory worker at Dana Perfect Circle in Hagerstown, Indiana. He later continued doing what he loved as a greenskeeper and maintenance worker at Winding Branch Golf Course. Denver truly enjoyed being outdoors and, as those who knew him would say, he “mowed until the day he came home to be with the Lord.”
Denver found his greatest joy in spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing golf, tending to his garden, mowing, watching Jeopardy!, and taking pride in caring for the outdoors. He was a proud member of the American Legion and appreciated the friendships and camaraderie it brought throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Janice Hawk; his children, Zach Hawk (Shannon) and Jody Cole (Ginetta); his cherished grandchildren, Carah Cole, Sarah Miller, Macie Hawk, Carson Hawk, Chelsea McKee, and Gage Scott; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Ava Gonzalez, Cameron Gonzalez, Cole Miller, Connor Miller, Cooper McKee, and Kylie McKee. He is also survived by his sisters, Velma Pauley and Marlene Boyle.
In addition to his parents, Denver was preceded in death by his half-brother, Howard T. Hawk Jr., and his stepbrother, Gene Cross.
In accordance with Denver’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held for immediate family. Those wishing to honor his memory may make contributions on Denver’s behalf to the Cambridge City American Legion.
Denver will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, his love of family, his service to his country, and the simple joys he found in life. His witty banter, kindness, dedication, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
