Obituary

CAMBRIDGE CITY, INDIANA - Dennis R. Kanago, 80, of Cambridge City passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Fayette Regional Health System. He was born on January 10, 1933 in LeMars, Iowa to Melvin and Ann (Krase) Kanago. Dennis attended grade school in LeMars and graduated from LeMars Central High School in 1951. He attended Iowa State College in Ames for one year before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1953. Dennis served his country in Korea before his dicharge in 1957. Upon his return to LeMars, Dennis attended and graduated from Westmar University before entering into business with his father at the LeMars Tire Hospital. After the death of his father, Dennis sold the business and went to work for Sun Ray DX in Decorah and Waterloo, Iowa until 1981. Dennis married Mary L. Suttles in Marshalltown, Iowa on September 27, 1968. In 1981, they moved to Houston, Texas where he started a landscaping company. After the death of his wife in May of 2000, Dennis continued to run the business until April of 2001. On October 28, 2000 Dennis married the former Alma (Cheek) Bowman in Hagerstown, Indiana. They moved to LeMars in 2001. During the summer months, Dennis worked for the City of LeMars until October of 2005. In 2006 they moved to Cambridge City, Indiana. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Billie Sue (David) Baker of Rockville, Indiana; three step-daughters, Beverly Bowman of Richmond, Indiana, Elizabeth (George) Steele of Cambridge City, Indiana, Connie (Ralph) Todd of Bonita Springs, Florida; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Mary Suttles; sister, Patricia Kanago. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, 1993 Cumberland Street, Dublin, Indiana 47335. Rev.
