IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Deloris
Bennett
November 30, 1929 – November 30, 2023
On August 13, 2024, many students reluctantly went back to school. But Deloris Ann Bennett went joyously to meet her Lord. Deloris was a Henry County woman. She was the daughter of Owen and Myrtle Matney and lived most of her life in New Lisbon, Indiana, and attended Jr. High and Sr. High there. She lived with her grandparents in Ohio for most of her childhood and spoke lovingly of her Grandmother Gustin. She was one of seven children, five of whom preceded her in death: Eileen Neal, Myron Matney, Jeanette Stapleton, Marvin (Bud) Matney, and Gerald Matney. She is survived by her brother, Jearld (Pete) Matney. She is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
Deloris was married to Albert Lee Bennett in 1949 and they had one son, Tom. Tom and his wife, Georgann, had one daughter, Leah. Leah and her husband, Dr. Daniel Juarros, have six children in whom Deloris delighted; Dakota Poole, Logan Juarros, Ryne Poole, Jason Juarros, Emily Juarros and Jaxon Poole.
Deloris worked as an assistant cook in the New Lisbon school cafeteria and then became the assistant post-mistress in New Lisbon. She and Albert Lee owned and operated the grocery store in New Lisbon.
Deloris was a busy member of New Lisbon Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and participated in the Women's Fellowship. She was a member of the Gideons, the Home Ec Club and the Optimistic Sisters.
Deloris and Albert Lee traveled the United States, Europe and Zambia. She loved to tell about their trips and the experiences they had while traveling.
Deloris was known as a spiffy dresser and loved her bling. She boasted 300 bracelets and numerous necklaces to match all of her color coordinated outfits. She also loved to look, shop, & talk with people. It was a sad day when she could no longer spend three or four hours wandering through Walmart.
