It is with sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Deborah Ann (Walker) Ingalls, who left us peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the age of 77 on June 3, 2026.
Born in Mobile, Alabama, she grew up in Wildwood, Illinois, and eventually followed the sunshine to Avon Park, Florida, where she put down roots for good.
She is survived by her husband Mike, her daughter Terri, and her son Greg, who were the heartbeat of her world. She also leaves behind her siblings Jackie, Linda, Martha, and Bil, a beautiful abundance of nieces and nephews, and her dearest friend Kathy Sowa. Kathy and Debbie found each other in 1970 and never let go. They followed each other through life, and eventually all the way to Florida. She was preceded in death by her mother Evelyn, her birth father John Andrew Sr., and Robert E. Nabors, the man who raised her and loved her as his own, as well as her brothers John Andrew Jr., Don, and Jim.
Her husband Mike was her person, and she was his, for sixty years. They did life together the way people only dream about. Completely devoted, always in each other’s corner, and genuinely the happiest when they were side by side.
For the last four years, Debbie was a proud and devoted member of the Sassy Stitchers quilting group. She showed up for every stitch, every laugh, and every story shared around a table covered in fabric and friendship. The quilts she made were more than craft. They carried her warmth in every seam, and the people who hold them will feel that for the rest of their lives.
Debbie moved through the world with beauty, grace and compassion that came naturally to her. She was generous without keeping score and kind without expecting anything in return. Family was her life’s work, and she gave it everything she had. She brought the same warmth and care to everything she did, including brief careers as an accountant and a beautician.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin, Indiana, with burial to follow at Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. Debbie was the kind of person the world needs more of. A big heart, a beautiful smile, and a kindness that touched everyone she met. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. The world was a gentler place with her in it.
