CAMBRIDGE CITY- Dean Briar, 65, of rural Cambridge City, passed away Friday December 2, 2016 at I.U. Ball Hospital in Muncie. A son of the late Ivan "Bill" and Helen P. (Innis) Briar, Dean was born in New Castle, Indiana on October 18, 1951. He was a graduate of Tri High School with the class of 1970. Dean was a farmer and worked the land in Henry, Fayette and Wayne counties. He was proud to have been able to teach his grandson to operate the combine during this year's harvest. Dean loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Afternoon Coffee Club. Survivors include 2 sons, Kevin (Gina) Briar of Straughn and Adam (Missy) Briar of Greens Fork; 4 grandchildren, Jimmy, Amanda, Joe and Courtney; 1 brother, David (Kathy) Briar of Connersville. Dean was preceded in death by his wife, the former Diana Jo "Jody" Marshall, on March 10, 2015. They were married at the Ebenezer Church on June 17, 1972. An infant brother also precedes him in death. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday December 8, 2016 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial will follow at the Brick Cemetery south of Hagerstown. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday December 7th.
