Obituary

David Keith Worl joined his beloved wife in their eternal home on October 19, 2026.

David was born August 18, 1942 to Carl W. and Saramae (Ward) Worl. He was a life-long

resident of the Cambridge City and Hagerstown areas. In 1949, after finishing second grade in

Cambridge City, his family moved to the Worl Farm near Hagerstown, where he developed his

passion for the outdoors. He and his brother, Ward, enjoyed the farm and livestock, exploring the

woods and the river, hunting, fishing, swimming, camping, and finding Native American

artifacts. During this time, David especially loved his dog, Lady, and his horse, Beauty.

In 1957, David returned to Cambridge City where he graduated from Lincoln High School in

1960. He then attended Hanover College.

On September 16, 1961 he married Pamela Lou Ginn with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.

After his daughter, Dava, was born he left college to work at INA Insurance Company and also

held a part-time job at Standard Grocery. Dissatisfied with a desk job, he purchased a dry-

cleaning business in Cambridge City in 1965 and later added a carpet cleaning service to the

business. David and Pam worked side-by-side until 2000, when health issues forced him to retire

and sell Worl’s City Cleaners and Carpet Cleaning.

His adult life centered around his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. David

and Pam were always supportive and actively involved in school activities, sports and family

events. David was a little league baseball coach for his son and grandsons and a softball coach

for his granddaughter. Their children’s education was important and earning a college degree was

expected.

David’s deep love for nature and outdoor activities continued throughout his life. He enjoyed

family boating and waterskiing trips, especially at his favorite lake, Dale Hollow. During their

empty-nest years, David and Pam enjoyed traveling to many places, including in Indiana,

Michigan, Kentucky, and Tennessee; most western and eastern states; Alaska; Canada; Las

Vegas; and several Caribbean cruises. His hobbies included collecting coins and Native

American artifacts.

David was a 33 rd degree Mason for over 50 years and was a member of the Jaycees and Kiwanis.

He served in two town positions, was treasurer for his church and the Chamber of Commerce

and was a life member of the NRA. He continued his education at Earlham College and IU East.

David is survived by daughter Dava (Steve) Brown; grandchildren Nathan (Richai) and Ryan

(Kim) Riggs, Tyler (Kristen) Brown, Stefani Baker, Logan (Sadie) and Chase Worl and Jessica

(Josh) Parr; great grandchildren Brylen, Jamen M., Ryley, Mason, Levi, Abbe, Ryan M., Landry,

Ben, Jack and Lainey Riggs, Kayden and Conner Vrbenec, Easton, Everleigh and Ensley Worl,

and Averie and Jake Parr; brother Ward Worl; daughter-in-law Missy (Morgenstern) Worl; and

nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his wife who passed from this life on August 3, 2026; his son,

Todd Worl; grandson, Jamen Riggs; parents, Carl and Saramae (Ward) Worl; grandparents, Fred

and Olive (Chapman) Worl and George and Eura (Freeman) Ward; as well as aunts, uncles,

cousins, nieces, nephews, a sister-in-law, and many friends.

A private celebration of life will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations

may be made to plant a memorial tree.
