Cambridge City- Dave E. Carpenter, 50, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday morning April 9, 2011 at his home in Cambridge City. Dave was born in New Castle, Indiana on July 10, 1960. He has lived his entire life in the Cambridge City community and attended Lincoln High School where he participated in football, basketball and track. Dave sponsored a men's softball team, "The Carpenter's", which played in area tournaments. Dave's hobbies include golfing, fishing, hunting and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching his grandkids play sports. Dave worked as Woodshop Supervisor for MEG in Cambridge City, due to his illness he was forced to retire after 22 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 22 years, the former Janet R. Meyer. They were married in Richmond, Indiana on October 25, 1988. 3 children, Brad McCord, Tashia (Doug) Young and Tamra (Matt) Carpenter- Davis all of Cambridge City; 9 grandchildren, Bryanna, Samantha and Kourtney Johnson, Alexis McCord, Alyssa Messer, Christian and Greysen Davis, Alex and Peyton Young; mother, Wanda (Chapman) Carpenter of Cambridge City; sister, Jana Jo Carpenter of Connersville; mother inlaw, Helen (Staton) Meyer-Singer of Cambridge City; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Carpenter on April 22, 1989 and his brother, Timothy Carpenter on November 15, 1979 Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday April 13, 2011 at the Cambridge City Christian Church, 106 W. Church Street / Cambridge City, IN 47327. Pastor Steve Cox of the Dublin Gospel Mission Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Cambridge City. Visitation will also be at the church on Tuesday April 12 from 2-7 p.m. the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
