NEW CASTLE- Dale Henry "Buck" Hawk, 80, passed away Monday morning November 23, 2020 at his home in New Castle while surrounded by his family. A son of the late Herschel Lowell and Vera Nellie (Dishman) Hawk, Dale was born north of Lewisville, Indiana on September 29, 1940. Dale graduated from Lewisville High School in 1958 and served his country in the United States Air Force as a jet aircraft mechanic while stationed in Little Rock, Arkansas and Ft. Worth, Texas. He was honorably discharged after four years of service. He met the former Dawn Carole Willoughby as she waitressed at Top Hat Restaurant and they married in New Castle on April 16, 1966. Dale retired from Chrysler Corporation in 2001 after 36 years of service. In his leisure, Dale enjoyed going to auctions and yard sales, collecting antiques, especially toy tractors, and watching western movies. Dale never met a stranger and always enjoyed meeting new people. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge #72 of Lewisville.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dawn Carole Hawk; 2 sons, David Todd and his wife Cindy (Hacker) Hawk of New Castle and Devin Trent and his wife Piper (Cash) Hawk of Spiceland; 2 granddaughters whom affectionally referred to him as "Poppy", Makenna and Myah Hawk, (they were the lights of his life), of Spiceland; 1 sister Nancy (late husband, Floyd) Cole of Lewisville; sister in-law, Kathy Willoughby of New Castle; several nieces nephews and cousins. Thanks is given to granddaughter Makenna, daughter in-law Cindy and niece Tina Beard for the special nursing care provided to Dale during his illness.
Dale was preceded in death by siblings, Helen Louise Hawk (1957), Charlotta "Lottie" Rummel (2010); in-laws, Harlan and Zollie Willoughby; siblings in-law, Linda Willoughby Miller (2003) and Rusty Willoughby (2017).
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday December 1, 2020 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. Graveside services with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at South Mound Cemetery- West Lawn Addition in New Castle with Pastor Roby Wood officiating.
