Milton- Clevie A. Steele, 91 of rural Milton, passed away Thursday October 15, 2009 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. A son of the late Elisha and Anna Roberts Steele, Clevie was born on November 19, 1911 in Cooperville (Wayne County), Kentucky. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal from the United States Army for his service to his country during World War ll. He served in the Asiatic - Pacific Theater. Formerly of the Lewisville community he has lived in rural Milton since 1993 and with his daughter Ellen for the past 5 years. Clevie was a welder and retired from Converto Manufaturing in Cambridge City after 28 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, throwing horse shoes and using his metal detector. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mara Ann Kendall of Lewisville and Ellen Suttles of Milton; 5 stepchildren, Beulah Fudge of Ohio, Donna Pitts of Virginia, Nova Nation of New Castle, DeWitt Bell of Pennsylvania and Barbara Disbro of New Castle; several grand and great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Tellie Steele and Maudie Burkes of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna (Gregory) Steele on May 8, 1992; son, Manuel A. Steele on November 20, 1985; grandson, Travis Andrew Steele on September 26, 1986; 7 brothers; 2 sisters. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday October 19, 2009 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial with Mlitary Honors conducted by the Knightstown and Cambrdige City American Legion Posts will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 - 5 p.m. on Sunday October 18 at the funeral home.
