Obituary

Clay Spencer Linginfelter of Indianapolis passed away from natural causes on Saturday July 5, 2025. He was 61 years old. Clay was born in Richmond, Indiana on Sept. 10, 1963 and spent his childhood in Dublin, Indiana.  A 1982 graduate of Lincoln High School in Cambridge City, Indiana, Clay also attended classes at Indiana University as well as Ball State.  His family loved him very much and his departure leaves a void in their hearts.  Clay was the definition of a 'free-spirited' soul.  He had the heart of a poet, the courage of a saint, and a kindness and compassion that touched every living being he encountered. He made countless lifelong friends from all over, and most everyone that met him remembered Clay.  He loved to travel, test and expand his knowledge of history, share wits, and enjoy life.  His heart was big, and he showed compassion and caring for those less fortunate through his many acts of charity.  He was a dog lover and would want his beloved Boston Terrier "Corby" to be mentioned here. Clay most recently worked as a maintenance worker for a senior living apartment complex.  Clay had many other professions and experiences throughout life.  He worked at Buckland's dairy farm during high school, later in life he worked for his father's business, Acme Patterns.  He also worked as a salesman, a bartender, owner/operator of Kinsinger's Coal and Feed, a truck driver, once drove a big rig across the country, worked in Maine as a longshoreman, built cell phone towers as an independent contractor, a remodeler handyman with his business Kraftwerks, and a maintenance worker at an elementary school.

Clay is preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Linginfelter, and mother, Ruby Chew Linginfelter.  He is survived by sister, Karla Cubbison (Tom) of Plano, TX, brothers, Dan Linginfelter (Dee) of Indianapolis, IN, Bruce Linginfelter (Mary Lee) of Richmond, IN, and Jim Linginfelter (Veronica Sutton) of Noblesville, IN.  He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Anne Linginfelter (Warren Rader), Sara Linginfelter, Laura Cubbison, Joe Linginfelter (Lizzie), Emily Lorenz (Daniel), and Claire Moriarity (Joe).  As well as grandniece, Gwenevieve Rader and grandnephew, William Moriarity.

Funeral services will be held at the Dublin Friends Meeting Church (2352 Maple Street, Dublin, IN 47335) on Saturday, July 12th at 1:00 P.M.  followed by a reception at the Golay Center (1007 E Main St, Cambridge City, IN 47327).  Burial will be at a future date at the South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dublin Friends Meeting Church, P.O. Box 96, Dublin, Indiana 47335.

Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
