NEW CASTLE- Charles "Chuck" Barker, 51, entered eternal life on Thursday September 11, 2014 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. A son of Charles E. and Deloris J. (Royse) Barker, Chuck was born in Richmond, Indiana on August 4, 1963. Chuck attended grade school in New Castle and graduated from Blue River Valley High School with the class of 1981. He received a Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Ball State University and was employed by the New Castle Correctional Facility as a Behavorial Specialist. Chuck completely adored his mother and enjoyed traveling with her to Kentucky and Ohio to visit family. He loved his family very much and treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children. He was a special person and touched many lives. He will be truly missed. Chuck was a member of the National Association of Social Workers, enjoyed reading Stephen King novels and was an avid Colts ("GO COLTS !") and Peyton Manning fan. Survivors include his mother of New Castle; 2 brothers, Joe (wife Carrie) Barker of Kokomo, Dave (wife Gena) Barker of New Castle; 1 sister, Bonnie (husband Bill) Stokes of Mooreland; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins. Chuck was preceded in death by his father in 2000 Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at the Salem Primative Baptist Church Cemetery near Greens Fork. The Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
