Obituary

CAMBRIDGE CITY- Betty Christine Boyd, 80, passed away on Tuesday February 14, 2012. A daughter of the late John and Sarah (Randolph) Meadows, Betty Christine was born in White County, Tennessee on May 25, 1931. Better known as "Chris", she was one of 11 children, after her mother passed away the family moved first to West Virginia then Indiana where she met and married Harold E. Boyd in the summer of 1948. Harold passed away in 1964. Their loving union produced five children, Steven (Maureen) Boyd, Teri (Billy Ray) Brumfield, Gina (Mike) Hay, David (Bambi) Boyd and Kevin A. Boyd who died on April 15, 2000. Chris worked as a cook and bartender at several area businesses which include the Legion, Worl's, Marco's and Hilltop Drive- In where she was working when the Lord called her home. She attended the Dublin Gospel Mission Church, was past President of the American Legion Post 169, member of the Board of Directors at the Dublin Community Club where she also joined the Walking Club. Chris was always willing to help whenever needed by the Do-Gooders Club and Ambassador Nursing Home for special parties. A favorite project for her was raising money for St. Jude Hospital. Chris relaxed by reading, playing crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. Chris is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 1 step granddaughter, Poppy (Mike) Livingston, Jennifer (Rick) Mofield, Joshua Hay, Jamie (Tim) Butcher, Jessica (Steven) Cooper, David E. Boyd and Jeremy Eden; 12 great grandchildren, Henry and Lucinda Livingston, Alyssa and Jeff Mofield, Autumn Stegner, Reagan and Timothy Butcher, Lathan Boyd, Haley Blankenship, Caitlyn, Belle and Elizabeth Cooper; 3 siblings, Harold Meadows, Pauline Snyder and Melba (Keith) Wickes; 2 sisters inlaw, Wanda Boyd and Bea (Charles) Perin; many special friends including Margurite Clark and Becky Davis; nieces, nephews and cousins. Chris was also preceded in death by 5 siblings, John Jr., Sylvan, Verlin, Freeman and Robert and 2 stillborn siblings. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of a Memorial Service at 5 p.m. on Wednesday February 22, 2012 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Steve Cox of the Dublin Gospel Church will officiate. The family requests that Memorial Donations be made to Dublin Communty Club, P.O. Box 313 / Dublin, IN 47335 for the St. Jude Project.
