Obituary

NEW CASTLE- Charles A. "Sleepy" Thompson, 75, passed away at his home in New Castle on Monday April 27, 2009 after a brief illness. A son of the late Lorenzo and Lois P. Kennedy Thompson, Charles was born in New Castle, Indiana on June 1, 1933. He was a member of the Lewisville High School class of 1950. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Charles retired from Ingersoll Steel in New Castle where he worked as a brick layer for over 20 years. Survivors include his son Charles A. Thompson Jr. (wife Tammy) of Erlanger, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Joe, Chris, Melissa, Desarae and Allan; 7 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Lenora Rhodes and Carolyn Jefferis both of New Castle, Norma Hayworth of Lewisville; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anna Lois Mercer. They were married in Knightstown, Indiana on July 25, 1952; 1 brother, Lorenzo Thompson Jr.. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday April 30, 2009 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Burial will follow at Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington. Visitation will be from 4 - 8 p.m. today, April 29, at the funeral home in Lewisville.
