Cambridge City- Charles E. Smith, 61, of Cambridge City, passed away on Monday April 6, 2009 at Reid Hospital. He was born on July 7, 1947 in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of Fred R. and Lillian "Lillie" (Hymes) Smith. On October 21, 1967 he married Joyce Ann (Sorrell) Smith whom survives him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a good provider. Charles served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and he worked for Home City Ice and Millers Dairy both of Cambridge City. Charles graduated from Talawanda High School in Oxford, Ohio the class of 1965. Surviving relatives include; his wife of 41 years Joyce Ann Smith of Cambridge City, two daughters; Melissa Joan Edwards of Satsuma, FL and Tonya Lee Sanders of Indianapolis, one son; Charles Fred Smith of Richmond, four grandchildren; William Lawrence Edwards III, Sarah Marie Edwards, Cody Allen Sanders and BreAnna Rachelle Sanders, four sisters; Carol, Betty, Helen and Donna, two brothers; Bob and Ronald. Preceded in death by his father; Fred R. Smith. Visitation will be Wednesday April 8, 2009 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Dublin. Burial will be at South Lawn Cemetery in Dublin at a later date.
