Obituary

MILTON- Carl E. Fennell, 70, passed away on Tuesday morning May 14, 2013 at his home after a 7 year courageous battle with brain cancer. A son of the late Clayton Fennell and Agnes (Stalsworth) Fennell -Rusk, Carl was born in Grainger County, Tennessee on March 1, 1943. Carl has lived in the Cambridge City/ Milton area since he was 6 years old. He worked as a shipping and handling clerk for M.E.G. in Cambridge City and retired in 1994 after 30 years of service. Carl also worked as a general contractor, doing home remodeling, woodworking and landscaping. He loved spending time with his family and friends, laughing and having a good time. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, gardening and hunting. During his lifetime, Carl was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. It is fitting that in death Carl will continue to help others by donating his earthly remains to the Indiana University School of Medicine. Carl's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you, to the staff at Southern Care Hospice of Muncie and the family members and friends who were always there to provide help, support and prayers. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, the former Linda J. Burns. 3 children, Dion (Barbara) Fennell of Greenfield, Dana (Mark) Maple of Hagerstown and Tom (Sue Ann) Fennell of Centerville; 4 grandchildren, Michelle (Brandon) Reeve , Amanda, Ryan and Haley Fennell; 1 great grandson, Hudson Reeve; 5 siblings, Tom (Sandy) Fennell of Atlanta, Roger Fennell of Rutledge, TN, Wanda Knipp of Pershing, Darlene (James) Gray of Brownsville, Alice (Paul) Good of Colorado; several nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Clarence Rusk; 3 sisters, Barbara Brandon, Margie Vore and Judy Scholl; sister inlaw, Kathleen Fennell; 3 brother inlaws, Bud Vore, Ted Knipp and Keith Scholl. A celebration of Carl's life and open house will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday May 25, 2013 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin.
