LEWISVILLE – Carey Mercer, 81, of Lewisville passed away on Tuesday December 19, 2017. He was born July 13, 1936 in New Castle, Indiana to the late Sam and Gertrude (Carr) Mercer.

He retired from Roberts Pipeline Construction in 1998 after 25 years of service as a pipeline welder. He enjoyed tending his small garden and nurturing his Christmas cactus plants.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jama (Green) Mercer, whom he married on November 8, 1958; one daughter, Cindy (Kevin) Grilliot of Greenfield; and a granddog, Jasper; one brother, Paul Mercer of Lewisville; and two sisters, Willoudene Smith of Mays and Suda Gunter of Byrdstown, TN; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, RD, Earl, and Dale Mercer; as well as his sisters Anna Thompson and Barbara Lowhorn.

Visitation for Mr. Mercer will be held at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel on Thursday December 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.. Funeral services will be at the funeral home Friday December 22 at 11:00 a.m.
