Cambridge City – Butch Hendershot, 76, a longtime resident of Cambridge City, Indianapassed away at his home the afternoon of Sunday May 17th, 2026. A son of the late Ferrel and Hasseltine (Halcomb) Hendershot, Butch was born in Connersville, Indiana on June 8th, 1949. He worked as a truck driver and as an equipment operator, eventually retiring from Verizon. In his leisure, Butch loved traveling, collecting trains, working on cars and hanging out with his friends and family.

Survivors include his 3 children, Mendy (Tony) Daugherty, Jessica (Mikey) Reneau, and Johni (Devon) Divine; 8 grandchildren, James and Justin Potter, Owen and Reese Dumford, Jace Reneau, Camden Brown, and Natalia and Navy Divine; 2 sisters, Judy (Gary) Hamm and Lisa (Brad) Lewellen. Also left to cherish his memory is his partner in shenanigans, Kevin Munchel.

Butch is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Doug Hendershot.

A time to celebrate Butch’s life will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday May 21st, 2026, at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Ensuring he had the last word, Butch did not want any formal funeral service.
