MILTON - Brenda Kay Atkins, 56, passed away at her home in Milton on Sunday morning August 13, 2017. A daughter of the late Eugene and Ruby (Steward) Smith, Brenda was born in Connersville, Indiana on October 11, 1960. She was raised in the Bentonville community, attended Bentonville Elementary School and Connersville High School. She has made her home in the Milton and Cambridge City communities for the past 16 years. Brenda worked as a waitress in area restaurants and most recently the Flying J Truck Stop in Spiceland. In her leisure, she enjoyed growing flowers, especially roses.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 13 years, Phillip Atkins, whom she married in September of 2004 in Richmond. 7 siblings, Sylvia Hooble of Batavia, OH, Harold Gene Smith, Sam Smith, Michael Smith and Donald Smith all of Connersville, Barbara Jean Becknell of Hagerstown and Brent Peter Smith of Galloway, OH; several nieces and nephews.

Brenda was preceded in death by her mother on March 1, 2009; her father on October 10, 2016 and a brother, John L. Smith on March 10, 1993.
