Obituary

CONNERSVILLE- Robert "Bob" Sams, 81, passed away Saturday evening April 16, 2016 at the home of his companion in Connersville, Indiana. A son of the late Hardin and Kate (Reed) Sams, Bob was born in Manchester, Kentucky on May 9, 1934. He worked as a pattern maker, retiring from D & M in Connersville after 33 years of service followed by 7 years with Carpenter Manufacturing in Richmond. Bob was a member of the Warren Masonic #15 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Connersville. In his leisure, Bob enjoyed house boating on Brookville Lake. He was a member of the Quakertown Boating Association and also worked as a shuttle boat operator for Quakertown Marina. He loved the water. A favorite past time for Bob was spending time on the farm of his daughter and son in-law west of Milton where he enjoyed working in the yard. Survivors include his 2 daughters, Vicki (Don) Lamb of Noblesville and Cathy Traylor of Bowling Green, KY; his companion of 9 years, Gertrude "Trudy" Caldwell of Connersville and her son, Jeffrey Sizemore; 6 grandchildren, Matthew Lamb of Quantico, VA, Sara Lamb of Noblesville, Erica Grace of Cincinnati, Jennifer Wagner and Adam Traylor both of Bowling Green, KY and Abigail Marie Sizemore of Connersville; 9 great grandchildren, Jacob, Hayden, Gabrielle, Alexander, Caroline, Caleb, Kinley, Sierra and Addison; 5 siblings, Charlie and Paul Sams and Nancy Burkhart all of Winter Haven, FL, Jimmy Sams and Linda Hufferd both of Connersville; nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his son in-law, Terry Traylor on February 26, 2015 and a brother, Larry Sams. A private family service will be held on the farm west of Milton where Bob enjoyed spending time. Cremation will follow.
