Obituary

CAMBRIDGE CITY - Robert L. "Bob" Dorgan, 86, of Cambridge City, Indiana passed away at his home on Thursday, August 13, 2015. He was born on July 22, 1929 in Fayette County, Indiana to the late Robert L. and Teresa Isabelle (Fowler) Dorgan. A 1947 graduate of Lincoln High School, Bob spent most of his life in the Cambridge City area. He served his country in the United States Army earning the rank of Corporal before his honorable discharge in 1950. On July 1, 1948, he married the former Dorothy Powers in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Bob worked as a crane operator for NATCO for 26 years before his retirement at the age of 61. He also worked as a meat cutter for Cutshaw's Market and Rihm's Food Ranch for many years to help support his family. Bob was a member of the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 and former member of the Cambridge City Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed sharing stories at the "Liar's Table" at Lumpy's Restaurant. Survivors include his children, Jerry (Lisa) Dorgan of Cambridge City, Robert L. (Cindy) Dorgan of Eaton, Teresa Smith of Milton; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Julia Hauk of Bellefontaine, Ohio, Mary Whipple of Connersville. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy, on February 14, 2007; an infant granddaughter, Jessica Lauren Dorgan on January 4, 1986; a great-granddaughter, Cecila Dorgan in 2002. Family and friends may gather from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Burial with Military Honors provided by the Lawrence H. Bertsch American Legion Post 169 Honor Guard will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Cambridge City.
