Obituary

CAMBRIDGE CITY- William "Bill" Joseph Rihm, 98, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 6, 2025.  Born on October 10, 1926, in Cambridge City, Indiana, Bill was the son of George Jr. and Helen (Decker) Rihm. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952, stationed in New York. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.  Bill dedicated many years to the family business, Rihm Foods, founded by his parents in 1926,  where he honed his skills as a talented meat cutter. He remained there until he entered military service. After serving in the Army, he worked at Marsh in Winchester before returning to the family business in 1965. In the years that followed, Bill held positions at the State Hospital in New Castle and at Central School in Cambridge City. He later spent two fulfilling decades at Wal-Mart in Connersville, where he took great joy in greeting familiar faces and forming lasting friendships with customers and colleagues alike. A devoted public servant, Bill volunteered with the Cambridge City Fire Department for over 50 years. He was a faithful member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the American Legion Post 0338 in Dublin. Known for his sharp wit and love of a good "dad joke," Bill had an infectious sense of humor that brought joy to many. He especially loved dressing up for the holidays at work, much to the delight of customers and coworkers alike. A dedicated supporter of his children, he was a regular presence in the stands at Lincoln High School basketball and football games.

Bill is survived by his son, Michael Rihm of Cambridge City; daughters, Peggy Rihm of Cambridge City, Mary Riggle of Indianapolis, Ann Mann (Bob) of West Harrison, and Jane Briar (Kent) of Warsaw.
