William L. “Bill” Goodwin, 82, of Centerville, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on June 14, 2026, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. He was a faithful member of Living Faith Church of God. William was born on December 31, 1943, to Donald R. and Virginia (Peters) Goodwin. He graduated from Whitewater High School in 1962 and retired from Perfect Circle/Dana Corporation after 30 years of service. Bill met the former Mary Sandra Wells from Lenoir City, Tennessee, in 1963, and they were married in 1964. They recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on June 6th of this year. Together they had two children: Lisa, born in 1965, and William Christopher, born in 1969. Bill enjoyed spending his time with his family and traveling. He was an avid sports player, coach, and fan. One of his final wishes was to get stronger so he could play one more round of golf. His life forever changed when he became a grandfather. His first grandson, Tyler, was born in 1993, followed by Lauren in 1995, Alexandra in 2005, and Noah in 2013. His first great- granddaughter Londyn "Sassy pants" was born in 2024.
Survivors include: his wife, Sandy; daughter, Lisa and Robert Tice of Richmond; son, Chris and Kelli Goodwin of Centerville; grandchildren, Tyler and Blair Higgs of Indianapolis, Lauren Higgs of Richmond, Alexandra and Noah Goodwin of Centerville; great granddaughter, Londyn Wallace of Richmond. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Roberts and longtime friend, Wayne Jackson as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sue Entsminger; brother, Gene Goodwin; and brother-in-law, Ted Roberts.
Per his request, there will be no public calling. A graveside service will be held by the family at Willow Grove Cemetery in Fountain City at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Autism Society of Indiana.
