Obituary

LEWISVILLE- William W. "BILL" Gabbard, 57, passed away on Saturday afternoon April 24, 2010 at the Henry County Memorial Hospital in New Castle, Indiana after a reoccuring battle with cancer. A son of the late Herschel and Ruth (Maines) Gabbard, Bill was born in Connersville, Indiana on August 8, 1952. He attended Lincoln High School in Cambridge City and lived in Milton before moving to the Lewisville community 14 years ago. A farmer, he was employed by Fairholmes Farms Inc. of Lewisville as the Assistant Swine Manager. Bill will always be remembered for his sense of humor and the practical jokes he played on his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, the former Marie A. Choate. They were married in Livingston, Tennessee on September 4, 1971. 2 sons- Brian Clay (Amanda) Gabbard of Richmond and William David Gabbard of Connersville; 4 grandchildren- Lacey, Brandon, Zachary and Katelyn; 6 sisters- Cheryl Powers of Missouri, Connie (Burl) Robbins of Richmond, Brenda (Charles) Choate of Dublin, Anita (Jimmy) Thompson of Milton, Nina (Jim) Lowery of Cambridge City and Tina Dunaway of Milton; 1 brother- Robert (Lynn) Gabbard of Hagerstown; several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant sister- Sharon Gabbard. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Saturday May 1, 2010. At the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville. Rev. Jim Nichols of the New Hope Church in Lewisville will officiate.
