Obituary

BENTONVILLE- Betty Helen Kemmer, 93, formerly of the Bentonville community, passed away on Tuesday evening March 12, 2013 at the Heritage House in Connersville, Indiana. A daughter of the late Carl and Pauline (Haisley) Jackson, Betty was born in Henry County, Indiana on September 30, 1919. Formerly of the Western Wayne community, Betty graduated from Lincoln High School in Cambridge City with the class of 1937. She lived in Fayette County from 1940-2001 at which time she moved to the Dublin Village Apartments. She and her husband, Oran C. Kemmer, owned and operated the Bentonville Grocery and Locker for several years. Betty also worked as a teller at the Bentonville State Bank and was a member of the Milton Christian Church. She enjoyed playing euchre and belonged to several card clubs and the Hand and Foot Group. Betty is survived by 2 children, Jane (Michael) Becker of Lincoln, Rhode Island and Patrick (Susan) Kemmer of Westerville, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Andrew and Paul Kemmer, Jill Bryan, Chad and Stephen Becker; 11 great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Hazel Stanton of Marion, Doris Funkhouser of Dublin, Mary Sourbeer of Pershing and Marge Swim of Spiceland; several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Oran C. Kemmer on December 18, 1986. They were married in Richmond, Indiana on April 16, 1940; a stillborn infant son, John Kemmer; 1 brother, Dale Jackson; 2 sisters, Jean Sherwood and Janet Summan. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday March 17, 2013 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Rev. Tom Cici of the Milton Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at the Bentonville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday March 16th at the funeral home.
