Obituary

LEWISVILLE- Betty Hickman, 90, passed away at her home in Lewisville on Tuesday morning September 8, 2015 after a brief illness. A daughter of the late Tom and Mary (Rose) Pfaff, Betty was born in Everton, Indiana on January 9, 1925. She moved to the Lewisville community as a teenager and graduated from the Lewisville High School with the class of 1943. Betty was a member of the Lewisville Presbyterian Church and the Ladies Home Ec. Club. She had worked for several years at Citizens State Bank followed by 23 years at Lewisville / Tri High School as the treasurer and bookkeeper. Betty was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. In her leisure, she liked to cook. Survivors include her 2 children, Tony (Mary Ann) Hickman of Lewisville and Jean Ann (Steve) Walls of New Castle; 5 grandchildren, Lori (husband Derek), Alex, Brittany, Brian (wife Cathy) and Natalie; 3 great grandchildren, Caiden, Makenzie and Logan; 1 brother, Don Pfaff of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Hickman on August 5, 2006. They were married at the Lewisville Presbyterian Church on November 10, 1946. 3 brothers, Jim, John and Harold Pfaff; 3 sisters in-law, Imogene, Marge and Beverly Pfaff. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday September 12, 2015 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Lewisville Chapel. The Reverends Peter Zinn and Arthur Whitaker will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday September 11 and prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.
