NEW CASTLE- Betty Herny, 85, of New Castle, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2015. Betty was born on December 5, 1930, in El Paso, Illinois, the daughter of the late Garnet and Irene (Peters) Todd Survivors include her daughter Debbie Magiera (husband Joel) of Straughn; her son Douglas Mathers (wife Deanna) of Roanoke, Virginia; grandson Josh Magiera (wife Angela) of Straughn; granddaughter Emily Knott (husband Lowell) of Straughn; grandson Jake Nicholson (wife Taylor) of Straughn; grandson Ryan Mathers of Roanoke, Virginia; grandson Justin Mathers (wife Noelly) of Tucson, Arizona; great grandchildren Kase and Sophie Magiera of Straughn; and Riley Mathers of Roanoke, Virginia. Betty was preceded in death by her husband Fred Herny, and her previous husband Art Mathers; and also by her daughter Kimberly Nicholson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home.
