NEW CASTLE - Betty Katherine Hay, 83, of New Castle passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Stonebrooke Rehabilitation Centre in New Castle. She was born on March 20, 1931 in Kokomo, Indiana to the late Raymond E. and Mary E. (Baker) Brooks. Betty married the late Harvey B. Hay in 1953 and has been a New Castle resident since that time. Betty is a graduate of New Castle High School with the class of 1949. She worked as a teletype operator for the Courier-Times in New Castle after her graduation. Most recently, Betty worked for the Foster Grandparent Program in New Castle until 2012. She loved family activities and sharing time with her family and friends. Betty enjoyed the simple pleasures of nature such as feeding the ducks at Memorial Park in New Castle. Left to cherish her loving memory include a daughter, Debbie Adams of Carmel, Indiana; son, Michael (Gina) Hay of Cambridge City; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers, George and Erwin Brooks. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Ronald Yarbrough will officiate.
