Obituary

.Cambridge City- Barbara Kay Pitcher, 59, passed from this mortal life into life everlasting with Christ Jesus, Tuesday morning May 18, 2010. Barbara was born in Bloomington, Illinois on April 8, 1951. She moved to the Cambridge City - Pershing area in 1958 and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1969. She was very proud of earning a part in the high school play. A loving wife and mother, Barbara was especially proud of her grandbabies. After raising her children she went back to school and graduated in 1985 from the Indiana University East School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She had worked locally at Reid Hospital , Ball Hospital, Fayette Memorial and for Dr. James Bertsch. She was able to incorporate her love of traveling by working as a traveling nurse in Arizona, Connecticut and Ohio. Barbara enjoyed seeing the country and camping with her family and had made many special friends through those activities. She enjoyed being a homemaker and gardening. Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Robert E. "Bob" Pitcher. They were married in Pershing on June 1, 1969; 2 children- Tami (Brian) McKinney of New Castle and Brad Pitcher of Richmond; 2 grandchildren- Brock and Kamryn Owens. Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Paul E. Davis on November 18, 2002; her mother, Dolores A. (Oliver) Davis on October 17, 1994; father -in-law, Andy "Pete" Pitcher on March 5, 2010; mother -in-law, Lois M. (Grim) Pitcher on August 26, 1986 Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday May 22, 2010 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. Pastor Tobby Smith of the Memorial Baptist Church in New Castle will officiate. Burial will follow at the Zion's Lutheran Cemetery in Pershing. Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. on Friday May 21 at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions can be made to : Memorial Baptist Church- 2400 Memorial Drive / New Castle, IN 47362 or to Reid Hospice, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
