Obituary

CAMBRIDGE CITY- Barbara A. Lowhorn, 72, of rural Cambridge City, passed away on Friday evening December 3, 2010 at the Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. A daughter of the late Sam and Effie Gertrude (Carr) Mercer, Barbara was born in New Castle, Indiana on March 22, 1938. A lifelong member of the Henry County community, Barbara graduated from Lewisville High School with the class of 1956. She had worked at Tri High School in the cafeteria, Jody's Restaurant in Centerville and KFC in New Lisbon. She was a loving wife and mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and playing euchre. Barbara attended the Straughn Community Chapel and was a member of the Womens Fellowship Group at the church and the Dublin Community Club. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Paul M. Lowhorn. They were married in Lewisville, Indiana on April 5, 1957. 6 sons- Terry Lowhorn (companion Janet Cook) of New Braunfels, Texas, Tony Lowhorn(companion Sharon Mullen) of Cambridge City, Jeff (Paula) Lowhorn of New Lisbon, David (Stacie) Lowhorn of New Castle, Jim (Angela) Lowhorn of Evans, Georgia and Darin Lowhorn of Lewisville; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers- Paul (Nikki) Mercer and Carey (Jama) Mercer both of Lewisville; 2 sisters- Willoudene (Glen) Smith of Williams and Suda Gunter of Byrdstown, Tennessee; sister inlaw- Mary Mercer of Straughn; several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by 3 brothers- R.D., Kenneth Earl and Dale Mercer; 1 sister- Anna Thompson; 1 granddaughter- Mackenzie Paige Lowhorn and 1 great granddaughter- Berkley Jo-Ann Lowhorn. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday December 8, 2010 at the Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home, Dublin. The Reverends Rob Rasor and Mick Saunders will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lewisville Cemetery in Lewisville, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday December 7 at the funeral home.
